OUR LOVE STORY
On a rather busy night shift Drew took a short break to peruse his Tinder account where he fortunately matched with Katie. After exchanging a few messages the two met for their first date to sip on margaritas and snack on chips and salsa. The more they chatted the more they found their lives were connected in strange ways, including Drew’s father having delivered Katie some twenty odd years earlier. Despite Drew working an occasional 30 hour shift, the couple managed to see each other six of the next seven days.
Fast forward to February 2019. Drew awkwardly suggested to Katie that they get a drink at their favorite neighborhood bar, Grey Ghost, before having friends over for the evening. The bar was more crowded than expected and Drew aggressively swooped in to grab two bar stools just before another couple (who were waiting much longer) could sit down. Drew then ordered a drink called “Liquid Courage” which comes with a fortune-cookie scroll with “words of encouragement”. Knowing that Katie would read the “words of encouragement” as soon as the drink arrived, Drew had coordinated the scroll to read “What the fuck are you waiting for? Get on a knee and ask her to marry you!” Katie, not realizing this was a proposal, laughed saying “we should put this on the fridge!” She then looked up to see Drew on one knee, ring in hand, and the bar staff pouring the two champagne. Katie responded with tears of joy and finally an enthusiastic yes!
